President Obama is paying tribute to one of his most prominent aides, who also happens to be his most frequent golf partner.

Obama spoke with The New York Times about White House travel director Marvin Nicholson, who has played some 140 rounds of golf with the president.

“Every president needs a space where he can be quiet and let loose and feel normal,” Obama told the Times. “And when I’m with Marvin, we can talk the same way we would if we were just a couple of guys having a beer and whacking a ball around.”
