DOJ to open an investigation of the St. Louis County Police Department.

The shooting took place just off Lucas and Hunt, not far from the Norwood Country Club. St. Louis County police responded a disturbance in the 5800 block of Eagle Valley Drive. Neighbors told police that a black man had been trying to enter a home there and that they had seen a running out the back.
When officers arrived, they saw a man quickly enter a gray Dodge Avenger. He immediately backed out of a parking space. As the officers approached the car in an attempt to talk to the man, he drove towards them. It then stopped abruptly, and several gunshots were fired from inside the car at the officers.
One of the rounds struck one of the officers in his gun belt. The second officer, a Velda City Police Officer, returned fire at the suspect. The vehicle fled the scene. It is unknown if the suspect was struck by return fire from the police officer.[…]
Warrants were issued on 27 year old Eric Fowler (pictured), of the 5400 block of Thrush, for Assault First Degree on a Police Officer and Armed Criminal Action.
