The German Foreign Intelligence Service (BND) tapped phone calls made by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, according to a report by the German paper Der Spiegel. The report claimed that BND tapped a satellite phone conversation made by Kerry in 2013 as well as a call between former secretary of state Hilary Clinton and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.
The paper also reported that the calls were not directly targeted by BND but were “collected by accident within the context of other operations.”
