Love it!
Via Capitol City Project:
Former New York City Mayor and liberal mega-donor Michael Bloomberg pumped $150,000 into a Wisconsin sheriff’s race, only to watch the candidate he supported lose the election.
On Tuesday, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin headed to the polls to vote in the Democratic primary for sheriff. Incumbent Sheriff David Clarke defeated Bloomberg-backed Milwaukee Police Lt. Chris Moews by a 5 point margin — 52-47 percent.
What’s perhaps the most ironic — and funny — thing about the end result is that Bloomberg’s Independence USA super PAC effectively wasted $150,000 on a sheriff’s race. Sheriff David Clarke, the pro-gun and pro-self defense conservative Democrat incumbent that Bloomberg attempted to defeat, couldn’t come close to matching that dollar figure and still won by a five point margin. The exorbitant amount that Bloomberg poured into the race was more than Clarke’s and Moews’ total combined campaign spending.
