Cop stopped a man from trying to videotape inside a public municipal building.

A New Jersey cop who came under fire for being recorded saying “Obama has decimated the friggin’ Constitution,” resigned Thursday after the police department began an internal investigation.

NJ cop Richard Recine has been a police officer for 36 years and retired in 2006, but was still working part time. After being video recorded disparaging President Obama, he submitted his resignation, according to MyCentralJersey.com.

Recine said he was being sarcastic when he was caught on camera saying “if [Obama] doesn’t have to follow the Constitution, we don’t have to.”

“I don’t want to give a black eye to law enforcement,” Recine told MyCentralJersey.com in an exclusive interview. “People are saying some really nasty stuff about cops. I don’t want all officers painted with the same brush.”
