Today I received a letter from my insurance company Horizon Blue Cross, Blue Shield of New Jersey (“BCBSNJ”).  They alerted me that my plan (which already went up from $187 to $216) would now be rising again.

I had expected this day would come but what I did not expect was that the ACA empowered insurance companies who had a person’s checking account on file to automatically enroll them in a new policy.

That’s right folks, if you have a policy you like and lose it – instead of losing your insurance the ACA apparently empowers insurance companies like BCBSNJ to enroll you in a new plan and charge you for it.

So if you are out on vacation or don’t get the letter.  Guess what?  Blue Cross, Blue Shield of NJ will automatically select a new plan for you.  In my case, the plan is $1xx more than what I have now.

I reached out to my Senator Robert Menendez for comments and got no response.
