I am calling BS, Walsh wasn’t a Congress Critter when he submitted his thesis. In previous reports the Army War College was going to investigate.

The plagiarism investigation of U.S. Senator John Walsh (D-MT) will end up in the Pentagon following a review by a panel at the U.S. Army War College.

A college spokeswoman told MTN News on Tuesday that it’s standard policy that the Inspector General of the Department of Defense is the “office of record” regarding allegations against former military members who serve in Congress.

The Army War College, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, said it is convening an Academic Review Board following the report last week by the New York Times that shows Walsh plagiarized or failed to properly attribute significant portions of a paper that was key to his obtaining a master’s degree in 2007.

Carol Kerra, a spokeperson for the college, said the involvement of the Department of Defense Inspector General in the situation is neither unusual nor a move to take the investigation away from the college.

“What is out of the ordinary is that we’ve not previously experienced a case with a member of Congress,” she wrote in an email.

The review board will likely start its proceedings no earlier than August 15 and take 30 to 45 day to do its work.

Walsh has been invited to participate in that review.

The board’s written analysis, findings, and recommendation will go then to the college’s deputy commandant, who will then forward the case to the U.S. Army Inspector General, who will then pass it on to the Department of Defense Inspector General.

The Walsh campaign had no comment Tuesday on the process.
