No surprise considering earlier today the head of the UNHRC said there’s a “strong possibility” Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza.
Via 24 News:
The United Nations Human Rights Council will launch an inquiry via an international committee into alleged war crimes committed by Israel in the most recent round of Gaza fighting, it was decided today after a vote held in the council. 22 member states voted in favor of the inquiry.
“The decision today by the HRC is a travesty and should be rejected by decent people everywhere,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated in reply, “rather than investigate Hamas, which is committing a double war crime by firing rockets at Israeli civilians while hiding behind Palestinian civilians, the HRC calls for an investigation of Israel, which has gone to unprecedented lengths to keep Palestinian civilians out of harm’s way, including by dropping leaflets, making phone falls and sending text messages.”
The HRC should be launching an investigation into Hamas’s decision to turn hospitals into military command centers, use schools as weapons depots and place missile batteries next to playgrounds, private homes and mosques,” the Prime Minister’s Office added in the statement.
