The wife of the Staten Island man who died after a cop grabbed him in a chokehold was so overcome by grief that she had to be escorted away at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network Saturday.

He repeatedly shouted that he couldn’t breathe as the cops then pinned him to the sidewalk and pushed his head down, according to video captured by a bystander.
“The issue is not if one was selling (untaxed) cigarettes, the issue is that an unarmed man was subjected to a chokehold and the result is he is no longer with us,” said Sharpton, prompting Garner’s wife to collapse and start bawling.
She was escorted along with Garner’s daughter, sister and cousin into a back room of the National Action Network in Harlem.
Sharpton said Mayor de Blasio, who postponed his vacation to Italy because of Garner’s death, spoke on the phone Esaw Garner. De Blasio was not at the event Saturday morning.
