Never you mind the fact that this guy is PROBABLY dead and buried somewhere and already in hell – he’s denouncing us while wearing our bling now.

Spotted on the wrist of the Caliph “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi” on Friday by a eagle eyed Kurdish friend of mine is a luxurious Western Omega watch.

Here’s the kicker – if you don’t know, Omega watches are insanely expensive. With an “average” selling price of at least $1,400 – Omega watches are NOT cheap.

The counter-argument might be “well it’s probably a knock off”.  Okay so what?  Why is the Caliph of a religious movement denouncing Western civilization so in love with it, he’d buy a fake watch that looks like he’s a million bucks?

The Telegraph provided some additional context on the matter:

His choice of accessory, which is believed to be either a Rolex, Sekonda or £3,500 Omega seamaster, has been highlighted as jarring with the content of his controversial speech.

He said that under the Islamic State’s direction the Muslim world would be returned to “dignity, might, rights and leadership”.

“I am the wali (leader) who presides over you, though I am not the best of you, so if you see that I am right, assist me,” he added.

“If you see that I am wrong, advise me and put me on the right track, and obey me as long as I obey God in you.”

Video footage of Baghdadi’s appearance, the veracity of which is disputed by the Iraqi government, was posted on Youtube and prompted an outpouring of confused comments on social media.
