Weeper of the House at it again.
The big story out of Wednesday’s Congressional Women’s Softball Game – aside from the media team getting pummeled by lady members of Congress 10 to 5 – was that former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., was on hand to throw out the first pitch.
After her toss, the bespectacled Giffords, wearing a team T-shirt and jeans, was greeted with a kiss by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. Boehner held Giffords’ hand and participated in a team cheer before walking away in tears, reported Jeff Malet, who photographed the exchange.
Washington showed up in droves to watch the matchup, including Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, maybe-soon-to-be House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md.
