At least two people were killed and 25 others wounded in shootings across Chicago over Father’s Day weekend.

The weekend’s latest homicide took place on the city’s west side just after midnight Sunday, when police said a 17-year-old boy, later identified as Brandon Peterson, was gunned down while standing with a group in the 3100 block of West Polk Street.

Peterson, who lived about a block away, was shot in the head and transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

On Friday, a 27-year-old man later identified as Dewey Knox was shot killed in an apparent drive-by shooting. The shooting, which also took place on the west side, occurred just after midnight in the 1300 block of South Central Park Avenue.
