Feminists continue to be the most miserable people on the face of the Earth.

A startup’s Craigslist job posting for a “Girl Friday” to cook “simple Paleo meals” and clean the office has spawned backlash in the form of a Paleo cookout protest, slated to take place Friday evening outside of the startup’s SOMA live-work loft space.

The ad, posted this week on Craigslist, sought a do-everything assistant to cook and clean, all while exhibiting “a positive, fun attitude while also being OCD compatible” at the design startup The Udda.

Framing the job as a gig for a Mad Men-style office babe incited Paleo feminists to organize a sidewalk cookout, complete with gin cocktails, in front of the offices. Per the event’s Facebook page, 40 people are planning on turning up.

But Erika Schlick-Sinclair, a co-founder of The Udda, said she still doesn’t get what the big deal is.

“As a female I did not feel bothered by the ad,” she said. “It wasn’t intended to be sexist.”

Schlick-Sinclair said she doesn’t think an ad for a “Girl Friday” implied they were looking for a woman, though the term traditionally refers to a woman who does many different jobs in an office. In fact, she said, they have posted the ad several times before, and hired men from the listing.

“I feel like a lot of the situation is coming from hate against the tech industry,” she said, although at least one of the protest’s organizers appears to actually work in the tech industry.
