“There is no fun in Islam” – Ayatollah Khomeini
Six Iranians have been arrested for creating a tribute video clip to the hit Pharrell Williams song Happy.
The video appeared online and has been viewed tens of thousands of times.
The clip features Iranians dancing in Tehran to the Oscar-nominated song, which Pharrell wrote for the movie Despicable Me 2.
The three women in the video are unveiled, and all performers in the video have now been arrested.
According to Iran’s state-run ISNA News Agency, police chief Hossein Sajedinia said the “vulgar clip” has “hurt public chastity”.
State-run TV broadcast a separate video on Tuesday allegedly showing the participants confessing.
In the edited confession video, the young Iranians are filmed from behind and claim they did not know the music video clip would be posted online and they were tricked into making the video.
“They told me they are making a feature film and they had a permit for it,” one man says in the confession video.
The hit song by the US performer has become an internet sensation.
