At 4:08 p.m., POTUS dropped by an East Room student talent show hosted by FLOTUS for a couple minutes. The event was open press, but pool wasn’t alerted to POTUS attendance before the event. The press office says a transcript of his remarks is forthcoming.

“I’ve got talent. I’ve got some talent but I wasn’t invited to be part of the show,” Obama joked during his brief remarks, touting the importance of the arts.

POTUS said he hoped the event would convince state and local leaders to support the arts. “The arts are central to who we are as a people and they are central to the success of our kids. This is not an afterthought.”

Obama left to cheers and FLOTUS said: “Thank you honey.”
