PARAMUS, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — The Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, N.J. was evacuated Saturday evening after reports that shots had been fired, New Jersey State Police said.
New Jersey State Police confirmed to CBS 2 that the mall was being evacuated. It was not immediately certain whether shots had, in fact, been fired.
Several people tweeted about a chaotic scene in the mall after the shots were reported, but further details about the incident were not immediately confirmed.
The Garden State Plaza Mall was also the subject of a horror last Nov. 4, when Richard Shoop, 20, of Teaneck walked through the mall with a rifle that had been modified to look like an AK-47, randomly firing shots before turning the gun on himself.

There was an apparent car fire, some sources suggesting noises may have generated from that event.
