Conservative oriented website dedicated to aggregating news from around the world-wide-interwebs, Weasel Zippers, has just lost its primary funding source because… Well… It’s kinda hard to say. According to the site, Google AdSense (an add generator produced by the infamously liberal corporation in Silicon Valley) has cancelled its agreement with the website because of apparent violations to their terms of use.

As I write this I have extreme doubts that my appeal will even be considered because Google has done the exact same thing to Weasel Zippers one of several sites that have been key over the life of this blog in spreading several of the major stories that I broke from here in Northern Illinois(that list is here and that list doesn’t even include everything I’ve done in the last year regarding congressman Adam “Bombs Away” Kinzinger).
According to a transcript of a conversation WZ’s had with Google employees responsible for handling appeals taking William Shakespeare’s line that brevity is the soul of wit is insufficient “original content” and thus a violation of Adsense policies.

Google recently advised the popular conservative website Weasel Zippers that they do not post enough original content to comply with Google Adsense guidelines. The move could choke off WZ’s access to ad revenue, which the site depends on to stay in business. Read the most recent exchange between WZ and Google here.
By their very nature, news aggregation sites will not be heavy on original content. They are designed to collect information tailored to the site’s target audience and post links to enable easy access to that content. That is what they do, using the model implemented so successfully by the mother of all aggregation sites, The Drudge Report.
It is hard to believe that this is an accident, and that the move reflects a uniform, neutral, objectively enforced standard. The left, reacting to the manifest policy failures of their gods in the Obama Administration, has been zealously pursuing means to suppress information that they do not want people to hear.

This one hits close to home because the very same thing happened to yours truly about a year and half ago. Google has a reputation for dishing out punishments for supposed violations of their terms of use in an uneven manner. Many conservative blogs have found themselves on the blunt end of Google’s political bias.
Now, Weasel Zippers, a popular Conservative blog and long-time blogroll member here at PRN has had their AdSense account suspended by Google, meaning they currently have no ads generating revenue.
