This is a real festival of fail. One commentator even sneaks in a plug for Hillary’s book, “Hard Choices”. Of course, Hillary avoided all hard choices, and this one wasn’t all that hard.

They note that, finally, the State Department made the designation in November 2013 under John Kerry, not Hillary.

Boko Haram, or more exactly, their more formal name, “Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad”, has been responsible for an estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013. Their focus is on killing Christians and Westerners, with particular emphasis on destroying Nigerian schools and education deemed “Western”. They wish to establish an Islamic state and impose Sharia law, and have led the government of Nigeria on a merry wild-goose chase for years.

While many seem to have just discovered their existence, we have been covering them for years. Since February 2010, for example, we have published approximately 200 stories on their actions. They weren’t always the most well-read stories, Nigeria and terror there perhaps seeming far away compared to our issues here.

But not addressing a festering sore tends to make the disease worse, as we see now.

Here’s a sample of some of the Boko Haram highlights we have covered over the years. Pay attention, Hillary.
–Bombing a Church, killing three children (one of hundreds of churches, schools, police stations)
–training with, and importing members of al-Shabaab, from Somalia to wage jihad.
–killing 30 in massacre at school, burning students alive
–assassinating 9 women giving polio vaccines
–within two weeks, 180 killed (60 children), 20 churches destroyed
–report on 121 killed in bombing attacks on government buildings(number later upped to 256)

They even vowed in March 2012 to “kidnap Christian women” “to strike fear into the Christians of the power of Islam by kidnapping their women.” The group “will launch a number of attacks, coordinated and part of the plan to eradicate Christians from certain parts of the country.”
