Just a tad detached from reality.

CADDO PARISH (KTBS) – A 12-year-old student was reduced to tears after her teacher allegedly called the student an inappropriate name.

The incident happened last week at Evangel Christian Academy School.

The parents are clearly still livid about the incident. They say the remark was overheard by other students in the class.

They say their daughter is well-mannered and polite girl,and hasn’t had any problems until this.

A life science teacher at Evangel Christian Academy is suspended after allegedly referring to 12-year-old student a ‘sassy slut’ last Thursday.

At the mother’s request, we are shielding the girl’s identity to prevent future problems for her daughter being teased by others.

“I’m just still numb about what happened and the disciplinary action that the school had taken,” said Mother, Marteen Mitchell.

The mother said she felt it was important that the teacher be disciplined, however, the six day paid suspension was not sufficient.

“No, I don’t think it was fair at all they initially told me that she would receive one day suspension with pay and when I made it back to my job, I received a call from the principal that stated that the situation was serious and they wanted me to know that they would give her five additional days,” said Mitchell.

“A paid administrative leave, I guess you would think it’s a vacation but it’s not . I want to tell you any teacher or school employee that I’ve ever dealt with, who has been put out on paid administrative leave is very upset about it, they are very upset about the fact that they have been accused of something,” said Jackie Landsdale, President of Red River Teacher’s United Federation.
