SNL should have seen this coming when they caved in to pressure from libs to hire a black female comic.
Via Mediaite:
Saturday Night Live recently did a skit in which Cecily Strong portrayed a Latina woman with an over-the-top accent, and a few Latina comics are speaking out against the stereotypes in the skit, saying that SNL needs to bring on Latinas just like they did with black women a few months ago to address their diversity issues.
They’ve started the hashtag #StillNoLatinas to garner support, and have put out a few videos explaining why SNL needs Latino diversity in the writers’ room and on stage. Jenni Ruiza and Jesenia put out a video called “Latino Stereotypes for DUMMIES” that poked fun at SNL‘s usage of certain players for roles of other races (“Just ’cause I’m Puerto Rican don’t mean I ain’t black!”), included an “Ebony and Ivory” parody, and went down a huge laundry list of Latino stereotypes seen in popular media.
