All you have to do is go to the Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.gov by March 31st, and you’ll find a range of insurance choices, lined up side-by-side and explained in easy-to-understand language. You can compare what each plan covers and how much it costs, and you can choose the plan that works best for you and your family.
Every plan on HealthCare.gov covers maternity care, pediatrician’s visits, preventive care (things like flu shots, mammograms and vaccines for kids), birth control and more. And these plans are affordable – the majority of people without insurance today will be able to get covered for $100 a month or less, and many young adults will be able to get covered for as little as $50 a month. Also, if you’re pregnant now, and you get signed up by March 31st, when your baby is born, you’ll both be covered.
No matter what plan you choose, you’ll have the security of knowing that if you or your child gets sick, or has an accident, you won’t have to go into debt to pay your medical bills. And if you or your spouse loses a job, you won’t have to worry about losing your health insurance too.
So my message to the moms and dads of The Bump community is very simple: go to HealthCare.gov and sign up. And make sure everyone you know gets signed up too – reach out to your family, friends, colleagues and neighbors, and send them to HealthCare.gov. Don’t wait another minute, because that March 31st deadline is quickly approaching.
