During arguments over the ENFORCE the Law Act, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) said that the GOP hasn’t attempted to sue President Obama because “they would not present a truthful case.”
Johnson made the comments on the House floor Wednesday, saying lawmakers already have the ability to sue the president for failure to enforce federal laws, but haven’t done so for a reason.
“Why haven’t they sued to force this president to enforce laws that they contend he has refused to implement?” Johnson asked.
“Well, they haven’t sued because they know that they would not present a truthful case, they know that they would lose the case,” Johnson said. “They know that this president has not exceeded his constitutional authority. This legislation is simply a showcase for the false narrative that the Republicans continue to perpetuate upon the American people.”
“That false narrative is that this president is not an American, he’s not one of us, and that the president is a communist-slash-socialist who’s doing everything he can to turn this nation into a third world country,” Johnson added.
