The fight continues to rage in the streets for control of San Cristobol, a city in the Venezuelan state of Tachira  People living in the city and in surrounding areas of the state tell me that they no longer have access to popular social media sites: Twitter, YouTube or Instagram.

They say that the outages begin when the Venezuelan national guard enters the city to stop a protest happening and the services resume the next day.

Venezuelan national guard troops and Marxist group Tupamaros loyal to Chavez and Moduro have become increasingly frustrated especially with their inability to control San Cristobal where last night a student leader of the protest was killed by gunfire and several police and national guard vehicles were torched.

The protests show no signs of dwindling as the government continues to ration essentials like toilet paper, bread and milk.
