What are the odds Obama blames the next terror attack on “Noah?”
CAIRO, MARCH 6 – Al Azhar, the main cultural institution of Sunni Islam, stressed in a statement on Thursday a ban on representing prophets because they are “an offense against the prophets and the principles of Sharia (Islamic law) and represent a provocation for observant people”.
The statement was issued ahead of the upcoming release of the film Noah, a US biblical epic movie directed by Darren Aronofsky where ”the prophet is represented, something which is clearly banned by Sharia and violates Islam’s principles”.
Al Azhar therefore called for a ban on the distribution of the film, which is based on the story of Noah’s Ark, to be released in movie theaters at the end of March.
