Earlier this month, White House Deputy National Security Advisor Tony Blinken said that Vladimir Putin agreed to an agreement reached in Ukraine. And as we’ve seen in the past week, that turned out not to be the case. Jake Tapper brought up that very issue to Blinken on The Lead Monday, and Blinken said, “I don’t know if he lied or he changed his mind.”

He continued, “The facts that Russia is alleging about what’s going on in Ukraine seem to bear no relation to reality.” Tapper asked about criticism that the current situation in Ukraine is happening partly as a result of President Obama’s “projected weakness” on the world stage after there was no follow-through to threats against Syria.
