(Politico) — Rick Santorum told Glenn Beck Thursday that he doesn’t disagree with Beck’s ominous assertions that Islamic extremists in the Middle East are working with leftists to establish a caliphate across the region.

“I have talked about a caliphate and how these extremists are working with communists and socialists — they are all working together. Whether you believe it or not, this is happening. And people want Sharia law all over the globe,” Beck said during an interview with Santorum.

“I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said,” Santorum responded.

Beck has been roundly criticized by mainstream conservative thought leaders for asserting that ideological groups across the Middle East are conspiring to install an Islamic caliphate.

“Groups from the hardcore socialist and Communist left and extreme Islam will work together because they are both a common enemy of Israel and the Jew,” Beck has said previously. Santorum signed on to that theory Thursday: “There are some who want to establish a caliphate and they are all working together because the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” he said.
