Swiss voters on Sunday narrowly backed a proposal of limiting the number of immigrants.
Results showed that 50.3 percent of voters voted in favor of the so-called “Stop Mass Immigration” proposal that was pushed by the right-wing Swiss People’s Party for reintroduction of annual immigration quotas, including asylum seekers.
It is believed that approval of this motion against mass immigration might lead to renegotiation of the bilateral accord signed by Switzerland and the European Union on free movement of people.
As a result, other bilateral agreements between the central European country and EU may also be affected.
