Then again, Schumer is a toolbag who nobody takes seriously.
Sen. Chuck Schumer hit Sen. Ted Cruz on Sunday for his characterization of the president’s upcoming State of the Union address, comparing it to the classic children’s story “Alice in Wonderland.”
Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” immediately after an interview with the Texas Republican senator, the New York Democrat said Cruz was twisting the facts.
Schumer was responding to Cruz’s assessment that President Barack Obama should admit his policies make income inequality worse in Tuesday’s State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress.
“If President Obama wants to give an honest, candid State of the Union address this week, he’ll address the fact that his economic policies are not working and that they’re exacerbating income inequality,” Cruz said.
Schumer said it was Republicans who were responsible.
“Well, a lot of it’s sort of Alice in Wonderland,” Schumer said. “He says the president’s policies haven’t worked, but he hasn’t let them go in to effect. He’s blocked just about every one.”
