Update to this story. There was a shooting today at the mall in Columbia, Maryland. 3 people including the shooter were killed. We don’t know all the facts yet.

But what we do know is that Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country, following Newtown, according to the Washington Post.

According to the Post:

Since Oct. 1, Maryland has banned the sale of nearly all semi-automatic rifles, plus magazines that hold more than 10 bullets. The state has implemented steps intended to make it more difficult for those who are mentally ill to obtain firearms. And Maryland now requires new gun buyers to undergo training and submit digital fingerprints to state police.

According to the evidence we have at this time, the shooter apparently didn’t use one of those horrible “assault rifles” of which the Left complains, he used a Joe Biden approved shotgun.

Police have released no details yet about the shooter at the mall in Columbia, only saying that a shotgun was found near the shooter.

Yet low and behold, a criminal once again doesn’t pay attention to the law or to the signs when he is mentally ill or trying to make a statement. He doesn’t care.

If you truly want to reduce such shootings, look to what has worked.

I’ll say it again-good guy with a gun. Knowing that you might face that, rather than having a free ride to killing people, that has and would make a difference. The answer is not further restrictions on the law abiding.
