Harry Reid

With any luck Reid will be Senate minority leader after the midterms.

WASHINGTON — Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, painted a bleak picture for 2014, and wouldn’t rule out another change to filibuster rules if Senate Republicans continue to block important legislation.

“We’re not there yet,” he said Sunday on “Face the Nation.” “I’m not thinking about it today. But I think everyone should understand that the country can not continue on the road that it’s on.”

Congress has a full plate of must-pass legislation over the next few months, including passing the appropriations bills that keep the government funded and raising the debt ceiling so the country doesn’t default on its debt.

Mr. Reid said how the Republicans in Congress handled the last vote to raise the debt ceiling does not make him optimistic that this iteration of the fight will go smoothly.
