Funny. Gingrich was mocking de Blasio’s claim that he would only be taking money from the rich that basically equalled a small soy latte a day.
But Gingrich isn’t the only one perhaps wondering about the strength of de Blasio’s convictions for progressivism, which is interesting as he has such an avowed Leftist profile.
Many took note of Rev. Fred Lucas’ invocation at the inaugural, during which he referred to NYC as a “plantation”, among other sort of questionable slaps and asides that he made.
But what some missed was perhaps a doubt or a question about de Blasio’s follow-through from Lucas. Check the tape at around 1:00.
Free us from the shackles of partisan politics, political correctness, and personal egos and agendas (he looks up at this point, toward one presumes, de Blasio).
Deliver us from evil, and lead them not into all of the temptations and intoxications that shall abound (here he very pointedly stares in the same direction).
Lucas likely believes progressivism has not worked because people have always “sold out” the cause. He doesn’t yet get that it doesn’t work because it doesn’t work.
