Benghazi dead

In looking for news on the breaking story about two Americans being held in Benghazi, I came across this strange story from The Hill.

Two Americans are being detained by Libyan military forces in Benghazi, Reuters reports.

The identity of the detained Americans — and the motive for their detention — remains unknown. The State Department had no immediate comment on Thursday.

The incident takes place after four American military personnel assigned to increase security at the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli were detained for several hours by the Ministry of Interior late last week. The U.S. is increasing its security presence in the country and helping train the country’s armed forces amid battling militias and Islamist groups.

Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed when the U.S. mission in Benghazi came under attack on Sept. 11, 2012. The incident remains a political issue, with Republicans defending their probe into the attack amid a New York Times investigation that refuted many of their claims.

Huh what? The New York Times “investigation” that has been called false by Democrats, Republicans and people who were there on the ground has somehow “refuted many of [Republicans’] claims”? Pray tell, Mr Pecquet, just how did they do that? Or is Mr. Pecquet just trying to clear the decks for Hillary 2016 too?

Mr. Pecquet has not as yet responded to my inquiry.
