On the last day of sign-up for January 1 coverage under the California state Obamacare exchange, Covered California’s phone number has been overloaded and currently yields a busy signal. The website states: “We are experiencing a high volume of phone calls today. We appreciate your patience!”
In the run-up to the Obamacare deadline, Californians have been rushing to sign up for Obamacare, though not at the rates predicted by the Obama administration. Last week, customers had to wait 20 to 30 minutes to speak with an insurance agent through the state 1-800 number, according to Covered California executive director Peter Lee.
