Cardinal Raymond Burke, head of the highest court at the Vatican and an American, said, through its implementation, the Obamacare mandate on contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs is establishing a novel definition of religious freedom in the United States that “is an absolute contradiction of the founding principles of this nation.”
Cardinal Burke, who is the chief justice at the Vatican’s highest court, the Apostolic Signatura, made his remarks during a Dec. 13 interview with EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo on the program, The World Over. In the interview, Arroyo asked about the Obama administration’s decision in late November to move the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See – the Vatican is a sovereign state — from its present location and place it on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy to Italy, a separate sovereign state.
