Long live, the Oregon spirit, long live the Oregon way …
Via Oregon Live:
Some 13,000 Oregonians losing their special portability health plans should buy directly from an insurer if they want to guarantee new coverage Jan. 1, the interim director of the state’s beleaguered exchange said Monday.
Portability insurance plans cover individuals who’ve lost employer-based coverage because of a layoff or cancelled policy. Unlike other types of health insurance, all portability plans expire Dec. 31 and cannot be extended.
Cover Oregon interim director Dr. Bruce Goldberg said the exchange can’t identify individuals on such private policies like it can covered by the state’s high-risk insurance pools.
