An Ohio high school is on lockdown amid a standoff with a student that has a gun, authorities say.

A Toledo Public Schools spokesman told the Toledo Blade that the student has isolated himself inside a classroom at Scott High School.

Police said the gunman is 15 years old, the newspaper reported.

Negotiators are currently inside the school and parents have been notified of the situation, Toledo News Now reports. The district said students inside the building are safe, but they will not be released until the situation is over.

School administrators are urging parents to stay away from the school while negotiations are ongoing.

Toledo police are expected to hold a press conference soon to provide more details.
