This is a train coming from along Hudson Valley into NYC. It derailed in the Bronx, north of Manhattan. This is a frequently used commuter train. Fortunately, it was an early train and a Sunday, so it likely had fewer people than it normally would have.
Update: 4 people are dead, injured are 11 critical, 6 serious, 46 minor.
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police confirm that a Metro-North passenger train has derailed in the Bronx.
There are multiple injuries, some serious, fire officials said.
Emergency crews were on the scene removing passengers from inside the cars, WCBS 880′s Monica Miller reported. Some of the injured were seen on stretchers.
Five cars came off the track about 100 feet north of the Spuyten Duyvil station shortly after 7 a.m., MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan told WCBS 880. One car came to rest feet from the water.
