Liberal comic Bill Maher debated with his panelists Friday over President Barack Obama’s apology this week that he misled people about whether they could keep their coverage under Obamacare, slamming Republicans for their attacks.
“People are getting a little bit literal about this statement and I’m not quite sure what benefit we bring to having, ‘Well did he apologize enough? Did she apologize a little bit more?’” said former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” […]
“When you say, ‘You’re not going to lose your insurance, you’re not going to lose your insurance,’ and you keep saying that over and over again, and then it takes you weeks to apologize — you have to face it up,” she said. “It’s wrong.”
“No, it wasn’t wrong,” Weiner responded, saying it’s the opponents of Obamacare who tried to mislead the public. “The argument that was being made by the people who were lying about the thing was, ‘Oh, we’re going to force you to take off your health care.’ No, what we did was we raised everyone’s standards.”
