Today I started looking at data.healthcare.gov and scanning through prices of dental plans in my area.  I noticed something really weird especially for Dental insurance (which is historically cheap).  Let’s do the equation together shall we?

I’m a single parent.  One child.  I want dental for both of us.  I buy a Premium, Single Parent Family plan for $135.  Then I noticed I could split the policies and buy a child and an adult plan separately for less money.

Using the table below [click to enlarge] let’s add the first one up – $40.72 + $47.24 = $87.96.  That’s way cheaper than $135.20  why would I want a “single parent plan” then?
