We couldn’t elect Mitt Romney, a man who had a record of competency, and who was a success at everything he did. Why? Because he wasn’t caring enough, according to Obama and Democrats. Obama at every turn tried to paint Romney as the evil rich guy and his former company, Bain Capital, was evidence of his predatory rich person. Bain was demonized right along with Romney.
Of course, this was bunk, as Romney had a history of helping and caring for people throughout his life, and Obama, well..he has a history of being a community organizer and hanging out with Bill Ayers.
But still “evil Bain” was an enticing fiction for some.
So it comes as a bit of an irony that Jeffrey Zients was the man appointed by Obama to lead the fix to Healthcare.gov. Zients is Obama’s OMB director and a former Bain & Co executive. What happened to the taint of Bain and Mitt Romney?
While Media Matters For America is correct in their assertions that Bain & Company are not technically the same entity as Bain Capital, Media Matters intentionally ignores that Bain Capital is made up of former Bain Company employees. What they also leave out is Romney’s further connection to Bain & Co.
In the 1990s, while Bain Capital was succeeding, its former compatriots at Bain & Co were not and times were getting rougher and rougher. Enter Mitt Romney who was asked by the Board of Bain & Co to rejoin the dwindling overstaffed company and bring it back to life. Romney brought two former Bain & Co employees with him and began to work on the company’s debts to investors, managing to successfully negotiate reductions to the debt.
It seems that Bain hate is convenient, but when something is broken and needs fixing it’s to Bain that Obama runs.
Too bad that we just didn’t hire Mitt Romney during the election, and we wouldn’t be in this mess now.
