[T]he first lady then turned into her fundraising pitch, telling the crowd: “So make no mistake about it: Midterm elections matter. Governors’ races matter. It matters who we elect to the state legislatures that draw those congressional districts.”

She then urged the crowd to “write a big old check. Write the biggest check you can possibly write.”

Obama has been on a fundraising blitz for the party. She’s attended several DNC fundraisers in D.C. this year (with more on the schedule). She’s headed to New York next month to help female Democratic Senate candidates. Her planned West Coast fundraising swing had to be canceled because of the government shutdown, but it is expected to be rescheduled.
