America’s ‘Most Wanted’ man has been seized by a team of Delta Force commandos after they ambushed his car, smashed its windows and dragged him into a black Mercedes in a dramatic dawn raid on his home in Libya.

Abu Anas al-Libi was getting out of his car in Tripoli after early-morning prayers on Saturday when three vehicles screeched to a halt around him and several masked men armed with handguns leapt out, his family said.

In scenes befitting a Hollywood action thriller, the 49-year-old al-Qaeda leader was pulled from the driver’s seat as a bag was thrust over his head before he was bundled into one of the blacked-out and unplated vehicles and spirited away.

‘I saw the cars stop him. They took his pistol and then they put a bag on his head and pushed him into a car,’ his wife told the Daily Telegraph.

Within a matter of seconds the commandos were gone and their target on his way to face justice for a string of international crimes that have left a $5million bounty on his head.

His brother, Nahir, said al-Libi’s wife saw the kidnapping from her window and described the abductors as foreign-looking armed ‘commandos.’

However, his son later told a local television channel: ‘The group that abducted my father were Libyan, not American. They came in two cars and a bus with blacked out windows and no number plates. They spoke with Tripoli accents.’

Al-Libi was quickly flown out of Libya and is likely to be extradited to New York to stand trial for helping to mastermind the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombing in Nairobi, Kenya.
