Is Claire McCaskill really qualified to be lecturing others about common sense?

On Wednesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) stopped by the World War II Memorial which has become a focal point of the political battle over the government shutdown. Speaking to reporters there, McCaskill said that the National Park Service did not intentionally erect barriers to the memorial just to keep WWII veterans out. “People in the Parks Service have a lot more common sense than the tea party,” she said. When a reporter asked if the decision to close the park was motivated by anything other than protocol, McCaskill said that it was not.

“The people in the Parks Service have a lot more common sense than the tea party,” McCaskill said.
