You know those ‘Support the Troops’ stickers on your car? Well, according to some pro-choice advocates, they should stand for military abortion access.

Monday marked the 37th anniversary of the passage of the Hyde Amendment, legislation which eliminates coverage of abortion under Medicaid in all but fifteen states. Instead of celebrating this amendment, which has saved more than 1 million people, some pro-choice groups are lamenting the legislation — especially for one group in particular.

“The ultimate irony is that while millions of “support the troops” ribbons will be displayed this year, there is a complete lack of support for comprehensive medical and reproductive medical services for military personnel.

Want to truly support your troops? Write to your senator and ask them to commit to repealing the Hyde Amendment.”
