(Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast lashed out at the controversial claims made by United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on meddling policies of Iran in Bahrain, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Monday.
“The U.S. criticizes the policies of independent and influential regional states including Iran to escape its political deadlock,” Mehmanparast was quoted as saying on Sunday.
On Saturday, Clinton claimed that Iran was meddling in Bahrain and other Arab states in the Persian Gulf and called on Iran to stop its meddling affairs, the media reported.
“There are many contradictions and confusions in U.S. foreign policies, and they find themselves convicted by world public opinion because of their long-time support for dictators and their participation in suppression,” said the spokesman according to Fars.
“We advise Mrs. Clinton to find a resolution for their contradictory policies in supporting the dictators and simultaneously pretending to defend the rights of the people of the region,” he was quoted as saying.
