Gee, what a surprise, truth gap between what Obama says and what is actually going on…

Following the conclusion of President Barack Obama’s press conference in Russia regarding his proposed intervention into the Syrian civil war, the president told reporters at the G20 summit that members of Congress are becoming convinced to intervene in Syria after they attend classified intelligence briefings detailing the situation on the ground. CNN’s Dana Bash said that her network’s reporting indicates that this is not the case.

“The president would not answer the question about if he would act without Congress if Congress votes against him,” CNN host Jake Tapper began. “But there was a different part of our colleague Brianna Keilar’s question about members of Congress, Democrats, going into these classified briefings and leaving with more concerns than they went into the briefing with.”

Tapper said that some members of Congress are telling reporters that they are leaving classified briefings with even more concerns about Syrian intervention than they came in with.

“I respectfully disagree with the president disagreeing with Brianna,” Bash replied, “because that is absolutely what we’re hearing.”

She said that her teams are hearing from lawmakers that they are not convinced that military action would be consequence-free for the United States or that a strike would be effective.
