Just because they behead people doesn’t mean they are not moderates.*

Secretary of State John Kerry says there is a “moderate” opposition force the United States is supporting in Syria and that supporting those groups will counteract murderous rebel forces like those pictured in a shocking execution video.

Kerry sat down for an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Thursday, and was asked if men in a video obtained by The New York Times, which shows an execution by rebel forces in Syria, would become our “allies” if the U.S. takes action in Syria.

The secretary said there are 11 “really bad opposition groups” that the U.S. knows about who are not being supported by the U.S. or its allies, who are providing assistance to other forces.

“That is a moderate opposition. They condemn what has happened today,” Kerry said. “And we are busy separating the support we’re giving from any possibility of that support going to these guys.”
