Oddly enough, she wasn’t so quiet over Mark Sanford.

Via The Hill:

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), declined to weigh in on the New York mayoral campaign of her former colleague, Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Weiner is struggling in his comeback bid after more examples of lewd texting emerged. He trails in the polls in a crowded Democratic primary.

While Wasserman-Schultz, as head of the DNC, had called on San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign over sexual harassment allegations, she steered clear of Weiner.

“Anthony Weiner is a candidate. He’s not an elected official,” she said in an interview that aired Sunday on C-Span’s “Newsmakers.” “He’s not holding public office, and as I’ve said before, I think that primary will play out on its own, and it appears that the voters are going to take care of that.”

Wasserman Schultz was one of several Democratic leaders who called on Weiner to resign from Congress in 2011 when the sexting scandal first erupted.
