President Obama is not considering calling the Egyptian military’s takeover a coup, Principal Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest said today.

Asked at the White House daily briefing if Obama was still considering terming the events in the Middle Eastern nation a coup, Earnest answered in the negative.

“No,” Earnest said. “We’ve concluded that it is not in the best interests of the United States to reach a determination on a coup.”
