JERUSALEM (Ma’an) — The killing of 25 Egyptian soldiers in Sinai on Monday is a Zionist crime, the Popular Resistance Committees said.

“The first and only beneficiaries of the problems in Egypt are the Zionists. They try to create problems and killings among Egyptians,” a statement to Ma’an read.

Israel planned and implemented the attack, the group, mainly active in Gaza, said.

The Egyptian people must protect Egypt as a “treasure” of the Arab and Islamic world, the PRC added.

At least 25 Egyptian soldiers were killed by militants in an ambush on two buses in north Sinai on Monday.

The soldiers were reportedly executed by militants after being ordered to leave the buses.
